@pydsa_hundur I'm sorry but that's just nonsense. Roughly 13% of the Faroe Islands' income comes directly from Denmark's economic aid. That's about 5% of your GDP. That's not without fucking importance. lol

Also, don't forget what you'd need to build up on your own if you became independent. How would you get a higher education? Currently you're getting a free one in Denmark (If you want of course) and will get paid while studying.. By Denmark. With a population as small as the Faroe Islands you'll never be able to afford higher education in more than a couple of fields. So everyone will just have to work in this few fields then? What about doctors for example? Are you going to build the facilities for "niche" educations like that so 5 people can attend it? Currently, you'd just send them to Denmark and they'd get their education along side the Danes costing the Faroe Islands absolutely nothing. I honestly fail to see what you'd gain from being independent. You'd just become a poorer place. Whoop-de-do. Big success!

You're not the cheapest country in the world either so if it was simply about getting our shit as cheap as possible, we wouldn't buy it from you. We buy it from you because of our relationship and to help your economy. Why on earth would that continue if you became independent? What would be our motivation for paying more than we had to after a potential independence?

You're right about you guys buying a lot of stuff from Denmark but that's partly because pretty much everything goes through Denmark to get to you guys. You're not exactly located in the most convenient place when it comes to trade after all. It's simply not profitable for every company, country etc. to do trade with you since it costs a lot of money getting stuff out there and you're probably not going to be buying a hell of a lot of stuff with that small a population. We obviously don't view it that way as long as you're a part of the kingdom. You have as much right to stuff as we do when we're in the same "club".

Obviously The Faroe Islands can gain more independence but if you actually decide to really go full on independent, it'll just be symbolic anyway since you'd need to have so extremely close ties to some country (for education, advanced specialist healthcare etc.) that they could basically force you to dance to their tune anyway or simply deny working with you. They'd lose very little from that.. You'd lose a lot since you won't be able to make it all yourself. You simply do not have the population to have specialist clinics standing by for the one or two cases that might drop in per year.
