Traditionally, ice hockey is only popular in Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the northern US. The obvious reason is because it's traditionally a winter sport. Attempts to spread it outside of those regions have not had much success. The National Hockey League, for instance, added or relocated a number of teams to the Southern United States, with mixed results.
Thanks! I don't know why, but this is always what I thought of Czech Republic while I was living in Europe (Germany). Always wanted to visit, but never did.
