Fan Art: Introducing... Philippines
I have to credit Jersheyshore for initiating this character, but I intend to develop this character further.
Here is a character profile of Philippines:
Scandinavia & the World (SATW) character he is most alike: Denmark (most of the time), Finland (when he gets angry). In general, Philippines is a tolerant, laid-back, cheerful, fun-loving, pleasure-seeker who loves to drink (hence the beer bottle in his hand--my rendition of my country's most popular beer, San Miguel Pale Pilsen), smoke, and gamble. Though he sexually identifies himself as straight, well, as I mentioned, he is very much like Denmark in this respect. But be careful when he gets angry, as he can become as psychotic as Finland.
What occasion/s would make him angry?
1) If he or Sister Philippines would be mentioned in an unflattering or suggestive light
2) If a certain song is sung off-key...
Other key traits:
1) He could generally be viewed as the world's handyman, especially with all our overseas contract workers spread around the world offering various services to other countries. Among other things, he is very useful in steering SATW Norway's ships, or labor in Saudi Arabia's oilfields, or doing various jobs for America...
2) But he is best renowned as an entertainer, especially with his high caliber talents as a musician and singer, particularly American-style music.
3) He generally regards the time when Spain controlled his affairs as an unpleasant experience, though several traditions associated with Spain's Catholic faith remained deeply ingrained in his character, along with a smattering of words derived from Spanish (though not the language itself). Ironically, Spain is no longer as religiously devout as its former colonies...
4) Though some people might say SATW America did not treat him significantly better, he seemed to admire America much better to adopt American English and pop culture. He sometimes refer to himself as America's little brown brother (though SATW America never or barely acknowledges this).
5) He is renowned to have moments of brilliance, but he somehow could not sustain it. There was a time in the 1950s when he's ahead of his Asian neighbors, but now he's playing catch-up with them. He has displayed so much potential for greatness, but somehow could not capitalize on it.
Extra note: This is how he looks in casual situations. He can look clean-shaven on occasion, and his attire occasionally varies according to the job he takes...
