Fan Art: Poor New York

This is something that bothers a lot of upstate New Yorkers. What's the first thing you think about when you hear "New York?"

New York City, of course. However, there is a whole massive state attached to it that gets forgotten by foreigners and even Americans alike.

A common question to New Yorkers is where they live in NYC, and they sometimes go off. It's sad but hilarious. Poor New York.

Maybe Sister New York can represent the Bug Apple while Borther New York represents upstate.

Q: How many New Yorkers does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A: It ain't none of yer &@#*ing business!

Well, you see, that is the stereotype. Theretofore, he is only the city.

losing in overtime is better than losing in regulation in my opinion. but hey, congats on the cup this year. coulda left us a little meat on the bone though.

@purelycanadian:

Oh sure, it stunk we lost. With the awesome comeback America had, it was disappointing to still lose in the end, but losing in overtime in a stunning fashion beats losing by two points any day.

im still surprised that you arent getting mad that we beat you in overtime. but damnit! it was a game for the decade or 4. and actually, we gave obama a couple brews (yes we call em' brews sometimes) im feeling helpful. what do you wanna know about us?

Okay, but wich street DOES he live on? :p

@purelycanadian:

I thought it was the perfect matchup.....two North American winter powerhouses duking it out with a near "Miracle on Ice" ending. Ah, man......good times.....good times.

And I won't share my political views on Obama, but I've gotta admit, that's pretty hilarious. Hope Harper didn't drink it all in the celebration. Lol

@worldtraveler
you are the first american to congratulate me on our victory
yea i remember it.
parise scored with 24 secs on the clock
I jumped out of MY seat and screamed at the TV.
"NO YOU F**KING IDIOTS" AAAAAAHHHHHHH
i was really into that game. but hey, that goal only made it better. because of america, sidney crosby is now a household legend. 7:09 in overtime gave sidney, "the golden goal"
people were going literally balistic when we scored. We take our hockey VERY seriously. And ghr coolest thing about the win was, before the game, obama and harper (our prime minister) made a bet that whoever won the gold was to personally buy and deliver a 24 case of beer to the winner. no UPS delivery. in person.

@purelycanadian:

That's good to know. Thank you. If my name and personal history isn't already a blatant indicator, I enjoy traveling and seeing the world.

Gotta hand it to you guys.....last Winter Olympic's Hockey Championship was by far the best I have ever seen. When the US scored at the last second to come back and tie the game, I literally jump out of my seat and did a Tiger Woods arm pump. Lol

Too bad we lost anyway. Oh well. It was a fantastic game anyway.

beautiful place. hosted the greatest olympics ever. im not one to brag(being a polite Canadian and all) but we whoop'd you're asses to get the word record for most gold medals at a winter olympiad. 14 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze for a total of 26. cant wait for the 2012 games in london. good luck

I know it doesn't count, but I've crossed the border at Niagara Falls.

Personally, I've always wanted to see Nova Scotia and British Columbia (don't ask why, I have no idea). Who knows....maybe some day. Where do you live?

@worldtraveler

@purelycanadian:

Absolutely beautiful! By far one of my favorite countries I've seen (I've seen 21). It's incredibly obscure in the world's eye, but don't let it fool you......it a great place to see.

The culture is wonderful and friendly, the history is expanse and amazing, the language is beautiful, and the landscape is sunny and warm.

Just imagine walking through Lisbon, the capital; the cobblestone streets are glowing in the Mediterranean sun, the air is crisp and cool from the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and the marketplace gives a sense of family and friendship that is rarely seen in many countries. That is Portugal to me.

It's really hard to describe, but maybe this video might help. :)

@worldtraveler
hey its cool,
whats portugal like.
ive always wanted to go there

9:35am Tue 18th Oct #819559

@purelycanadian:

Whoops.....stupid spelling error there.

I can see you're confused, so I'll explain......I'm an American, born and raised.

When I was 7, my family moved to Portugal where I basically spent my childhood there for 5 years.

Later my family moved to Germany where we lived there for 3 years (thus the German avatar).

THEN we moved to the Philippines where we have lived in and out for 5 years.

So yeah, my avatar is Germany, my flag is Portugal, and my unusual grasp of the English language is American.

@purelycanadian:

Silly purelycanadian....I was merely comparing Canada's providences and New York in SIZE.

I know New York is a US State. Lol. I'm American. ^^

7:24pm Thu 6th Oct #787805

@world traveler
i hate to break it to you but,
new york isnt in Canada.
its in USA

5:25pm Tue 4th Oct #783007

OMG thank you for this!!! LOL, so true, as a New Yorker, it often frustrates me that people always think of that one city!

@Hyddan: I hope you're implying the fact that people confuse the two, 'cuz Washington D.C. is not in the same state as Washington (or any state for that matter; it's its own district).
