Fan Art: Nationally confused

Is it awfully selfish to create your own character? I'm a complicated case. I was born and raised in Latvia in a very slavic family (mom - Russian, dad - from Belarus), but moved on to the UK where I was "put on my feet" (education, job and general adult jazz). Also I'm not-so-secretly in love with Finland and Germany and hope to have a chance to live there at some point. And if asked who am I by nationally, I get confused and don't know what to answer.

@ Stellochka Hah, I'm kind of in the same position. Born in England, My father is Irish, my mother English-Swiss French. Grew up in Singapore, and Malaysia. Just gained an Australian citizenship. :)

Trūkst vārdu, skaisti! :)

("No words, beautiful!" in Latvian, hope at least you Stellochka understood the first one :) )

Forgot to mention: this is very cute.

Not that anyone really probably cares, but these are all the places my ancestors came from: Russia, Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, England, Prussia (therefore making me Polish, Prussian and more German), and one or two others I can't remember. It would be SO HARD to draw something like this for me, not even including the places I want to go. Um... yeah, I'll shut up now and stop being weird/boring.

well, im probably one of those few, who likes, where they live right from the start and until the end.

@kjokjojessica and I don't know what to answer to that age old question... Since I've spent most of my life in Latvia I probably belong to that category. Latvians would disagree though.

you do bring up an age old question:
Which character are you?

This is very neat.

@Stellochka - Teachers? No, I skipped English classes, only shown up for tests, or to embarass the teacher, talking cockney to her. The Scottish accent is usually following some serious drinking. Normally it's practically Oxford English. I simply tell people I'm a BBC 80's Comedies Veteran.

At least people from other countries move to America, I'm tired of seeing pure American. Today I finally met people of actual Taiwanese and Finnish descent! :D

@Zanzibaarus America scares me it's so big and so far, I would go crazy on such a long flight! Yet, after 4 year in the UK I still apparently sound very American and I don't know why. Would be easier to blend.

@StoutViking scottish accent!?! You probably had interesting teachers, it sounds like a different language to me.

@Stellochka
Can we switch countries? America's starting to suck. :/

You and me together. Russian parents, born in Russia, moved to Israel, but living in Germany half the time. Multiply personality issue?

When I travel and people ask me where I'm from, begins a long story of explaining how I wound up where I am. Then they ask me where I got my scottish accent from. o_O

Ah ah! This is great! Without being from two nationalities, I'm also a little bit confused on that point. That's why I chose the European flag, 'cause sometimes, I say I'm European, before saying anything else. It seems natural to me, 'cause I feel more Finnish than anything else in many ways... But I've got a lot of "British" sides... ^^
Your drawing is really good!

Forgot to add that this might even be a very typical case for Latvia. Decent part of population is either of slavic or mixed descent and lately many, many people have been imigrating to the UK or Germany to earn a living. Inclusion of Finland is my unique case though.
And I am human, so I make spelling mistakes.
