@yoisi In what way did I defend the oppression of women?? I'm not a supporter of the burqa, but I'm also not a supporter of punishing women for what they wear. If a woman of her free will decides to wear a burqa I'm not gonna try to stop her. It's her right as a human being to decide for herself.
And yes, some women are forced to wear it. Maybe not directly, but by an inherent pressure and the way they were brought up. But again: We barely have ANYONE here in Denmark who wears a burqa. Clearly, it's not a huge issue within these communities, otherwise we would see a lot more Muslim women wearing a burqa.
But punishing the victims is idiotic! It would be like giving a rape victim a fine because 'Well, you wore a really short skirt so this is also kinda on you, you know?'. You don't PUNISH a victim for being a victim. That's insane. Fine the men if you want to punish someone. Don't punish the woman - which is what this idiotic law is doing.

Side note: 'backwards religious thinking that thinks the females are the property of male' - well, that's ALL religions. I hope you're aware of that? None of the major religions hold women in any high regard xD It's not like Islam is alone in being a total asshole-religion towards women.

And aren't YOU a Western woman?? Do you ... not get yourself??
