Huh, I guess we aren't the only ones with odd laws still on the books from a long time ago. We have whole books of them here, every town/state seems to have at least one law that is plain old nuts that is still technically enforceable (although I don't think they ever are, but you never know). Many of them make at least some sense historically, meaning that in the context of the times, one could see why they were enacted, things like the woman's hairstyle being the property of the husband, so she had to get permission to change it. Given how chauvinistic and patriarchal our society has historically been, it's not tough to believe that people once thought that made sense, as sad as that is. But others, you just throw up your hands and even in the context of the culture where they were enacted, you really wonder, such as the Texas law that states - "When two railroad trains meet at a crossing, each shall stop and neither shall proceed until the other has passed." Huh?
