@Shitzadorina The Amish in PA are called the "Pennsylvanian Dutch" for that same reason, because nobody in the US knew what the heck the Deutsch were, so they called them Dutch, even though they were German, not Dutch. There is still a Pennsylvanian Dutch language, which is like pidgin German...
