Hey I have a roommate who acts like that. We are walking through a wooded park in the outskirts of a sprawling city. A twig snaps. "WAS THAT A BEAR" me: "Nope... You stepped on a twig."
A branch moves loudly. "WAS THAT A BEAR" Me: "Nope. A squirrel... "
A bush rustles. "WAS THAT A BEAR" Me: "Still no. That was a magical force called wind." Him: "Are you sure?"
At that point I usually sigh and hope we see a deer. The terror usually distracts him.
