@dumdristig Yes indeed, at least the basic standard. But I guess people forget easily.
We have this thing (I think in most European countries) That we almost always refer to the U.S.A. as America. Even when people our talking about countries in South America at the same time. I really hate that. Therefor I always try to say "United States", or write U.S.Americans.

Yes the Scandinavians are better at it indeed. I think their language sounds a little more like English, as we have the hard G and R and such. But you'll find the number of people speaking English is higher in the Netherlands, because everybody at least tries to speak it (not too well, but the effort is there always). But I like accents, and love to hear where people originally come from just by the way the pronounce things ;)
