Afrikaans is quite similar to Dutch, although they spell things differently and have their own made-up words. But most of their words are very logically in the Dutch language, things we should have used. For example we use the word "lift" like the English "elevator" but in Afrikaans it's "hyser" (literally: lifter, something/one that lifts). And similar to Dutch they have influences from French and English. I love Afrikaans. It's often called a baby-language because it is simple, but because it is so similar to Dutch I have a hard time not applying all the Dutch rules. And the making-up words thing they do seems childish sometimes, because they also do it with some of the "new" words everyone just uses the English terms for.

That is a funny and quite good description. Also fits a rugby theme quite well, I imagine.
