That's very interesting. I didn't know much about it, other than it was based on Dutch, which makes sense since it was the language of Dutch colonists. And looking at the two languages, I could see some similarities, but I don't know either language, so I couldn't compare past the obvious similarities.
Yeah, it would fit the rugby theme, although ironically it was when we were both working in the college mailroom that he told me it. I knew him from rugby, but it wasn't in a rugby context that he described "dumdristig." Ironically, he was one of the least reckless players on the rugby team...
