@Sindrenorseman Actually this one is a bit tricky as his parents were Norwegian who met and lived in Iceland. It's therefore assumed Leifur was born in Iceland, although it's not know for certain. Leifur moved to Norway and entered the court of the Norwegian king who instructed him to spread Christianity to Greenland but on the way Leifur landed in Vinland due to bad weather.

To put it into another context: Your parents are from Country A and you are born and raised in country B. From which country are you? A or B (or both?) Hard to say, we have to ask Leifur :)

In any case, both countries have received recognition for Leif. The US gave Iceland a statue in 1929 and Obama said he was a son of Iceland and grandson of Norway.
