Fan Art: Special Relationship
UK and US have a very complicated relationship and are frenemies and agree and disagree on a lot of stuff, and always trying to out do each other, even in misery..
and that's why we have a Special Relationship.. (and I thinks it's much older than WWII when Winston Churchill, suggested it)

The special relationship is economic need for each other combined with general disdain and mistrust of each other.
Example: America almost sided with the Germans in WW1.
So during WW2 and the cold war, a whole lot of propaganda was necessary that held no other purpose but to improve the relationship between the U.S. and U.K.
And it did, very well. And American opinion of Britain has maintained a high rate of favorability in spite of increasing ideological polarity and the rapidly falling opinion Britain has of America.
So to put it simply the special relationship is special because the governments said it was special and people believed really hard and it became special for reals.
