The stereotype for Brazil would be a tan scantily clad voluptuous woman with long flowing dark wavy hair. There is even a song that depicts her perfectly -Garota de Ipanema by Tom Jobim and Joao Gilberto. Anyway this depiction is not wrong by all means and is super cute. She should be wearing her proper flag though.
Yep. BLACK. How about Gilberto Gil, the Brazilian musician? Not tan. BLACK. Djavan? BLACK, with dreadlocks. Ever heard of Ronaldinho, the footballer? BLACK. Even a recent (within the past 10 years) former governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro (not the city) was a black woman. So what is wrong with drawing Brazil like this? It's not inaccurate. Plenty of women in Brazil look just like this. The state of Bahia is predominately Black because it was home to a major slave port run by the Portuguese. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art of African origin enjoyed by Brazilians of all colors. There are more people with African ancestry in Brazil than in the United States. Brazilians range from fair to dark, and **there is no one way to look Brazilian** because they are (thankfully) so varied.
What you see in Brazilian media mostly, however, are women who look like Gisele Bundchen, so I would not be surprised if that's how Brazil will end up being drawn, which (IMO) would be unfortunate. It would be my guess that based on comments I've seen here, the majority will want to see Brazil drawn as tan or lighter, without "black" features. *sigh*
