We all want to know what inside of Finlands mind... Well, now you see, hes missing Sweden. :/

Translation: And only under northern star, I cry one tear cause of you...
(Yes its from finnish song called, Täällä pohjantähden alla.)

Ps. This is my first fan art, so dont judge me!

@Tsuhna

Thank you, you made me lern somthing new today.
So you was tought to extend your vovels in school? I wonder why, but it is a rather charming way of talking, so I will not complain about that.
Estonians use long vovels as well? Not too strange, since your languages are related, but it is an interesting fact. I regret my knowlage of Estonia, and its culture, is very limited, so this is a welcome add.

@MixedRedGoo "A,E,I,O,U,Y,Å,Ä,Ö" are vovels.

@Tsuhna

He he. I dont think they joke like that in Sibiria, tho.
Kind of funny, with the Eurovision-joke, since your win with Lordi was one with much stage-fire. (I voted for them, by the way. It is so unusual with a deisent song in that contest.)
About political correctness. Just like most things, it looses its meaning when it becomes extreme.

Sorry for my bad english, but what do "vovels" mean?

10:59am Tue 10th Apr #8286634

@MixedRedGoo the jokes russians are telling about us are like this one: " at -150 degrees celsius Finns celebrate midsummer, at -200 degrees celsius the Hell freezes and Finland wins the Eurovision, and at the 0 degrees Kelvin when all movement stops Finns say 'kind of chilly today, isn't it?' "
About our jokes about russians, kind of hard to say as they tend to be the exact same jokes russians tell about themselves, and the ones that can be told apart from the ones told by russians themselves are a little bit too...just about anything to be told on the Internet, what with both Nashi as well as some of our own political speakers (like Johan Bäckman for example-) using every excuse they can find to proclaim how we are hostile towards Russia etc. Political correctness is a fine idea, but what it has turned into nowadays...

ps. the thing with us Finns and our long vovels, russians tell the same kind of jokes about estonians, though I wouldn't be surprised if they told the same kind of jokes about us as well.

And now that we are at it, I was actually taught in Swedish -classes at school to stretch vovels, even beyond what we are used to here in Finland.

@Tsuhna

That is good to hear!
Yes, we have a few finn-jokes, usuly about knife-flailing and heavy drinking, even thou norwegians are our most comon joke-victims.
The most usual joke is the phrase "Iiinte skära, baaara rispa" (Nooo cuting, juuust scratching). Refering to knifefighting, spoken with finnish accent.
What is the russian stereotype of the finnish?

7:26am Tue 10th Apr #8286207

@MixedRedGoo Equals I think, it's just a running joke/ 'our national duty' to make fun of swedes, that's just the way we are, even when we tell jokes about the intelligence of the swedish and/or "swedish are gay" -jokes it's just that, bunch of silly jokes no-one takes seriously, and we expect swedish to do the same, do you guys have any good jokes about us? I know I laugh my ass off when ever I read the jokes russians make about us.

4:53am Mon 9th Apr #8284681

@Tsuhna

All right, I hear you, but do most finlanders look down on us swedes, or do you vew us as equals? I have heard different answers on that question. What is your impression?

9:39am Wed 4th Apr #8277880

@MixedRedGoo I'd say whiteandblue has a point, though in my eyes we compare ourselves to Sweden in order to find something that we can claim we are better at (you have heard the decades old phrase we Finns use when talking about Ice hockey Wolrd Cup: "Doesn't matter whether or not we win, but we MUST defeat Sweden!"?)

In other words, I guess it's a kind of rivalry, it's not like we have much choise when looking for someone to compare ourselves to, out of our neighbors Sweden is the most similar one.

Though *gathers the willpower to suppress his Fennomaniacism* I'll have to admit that maybe some of us sometimes maybe momentarily see Sweden as our big brother (no, not me, never, don't even think about it!)

@whiteandblue
Realy? I didnt know that you spoke about us in that way. So ... Finland sort of looks up to Sweden? Still? I dont realy understand why. Finland and its people have shown time and again that you are more than capable to take care about yourselves. World war II is just an example. A gruesome, but brightly shining example.
I hope our countries will be better at showing their affection for one another in the future. Yes, we care about Finland alot in Sweden.
You are still our brothers and sisters in our eyes. Quiet siblings who are reluctant to play with us, may be, but siblings none the less.

4:42am Sat 10th Mar #8232798

@mixedredgoo
I like to see Sweden as a father of Finland because always when we compare our country to something we ALWAYS compare to Sweden. I think it's funny how people are here like "Oh my god wonder what Swedes think about us?".
And besides if you ever happen to hear Swede-jokes remember, that anyone is rarely serious.

@Guyfromnorth
Somtimes I almost think that your hate for us is genuine, so it gladens my heart to see this. I can understand the finnish tierdness, of having been almost pulled appart between us and Russia for hundreds of years (at least I think it has been that long, but my knowlage of history might be failing me), but deep down, we still love each other.
It is a sibling-relationship, isnt it?

5:06am Wed 21st Sep #740764

Yes, I like this! I hate us for hating Sweden so much, it doesn't make any sense TT^TT

lol, this picture actually reminded me one song from musical "Romeo ja Julia" ("Romeo and Juliet"). yes, it is based on shakespeare's play, but music was all-new and action was brought into modern day. musical was really good tough.
song i am talking about is "Pilveräbalad" ("cloud shreds") in performance of Kristjan Kasearu. Music by E. Liitmaa (band: Terminaator), lyrics by J. Kreem (also in same band) and backround music was by Terminaator band. song: [link]
