And I suppose he might have had asexual reproduction. O.o or maybe he mad scientist-ed it and made a clone of himself. Or he had a test tube baby made because he wanted a baby without the icky part of touching someone not as fabulous as himself.

Green eyes is technically a color variation of the blue eye gene. Blue (and therefore green) eyes are recessive genes to brown eyes. Eyes are controlled by more than one set of genes though, so that's why you can get a variety of shades of a color. So if Sparklies were recessive, then both parents would have to at least be a carrier of the gene, and if they were controlled by multiple genes, then depending on the way they were all inherited, Vinland may have been not sparkly, slightly sparkly, normal sparkly, or super sparkly like Dad.

They have to like...have the green eyed trait and pass it on for it to have green eyes though...I don't know if green eyes is dominant or recessive...whatever. xD
(I'm only in 7th grade...well technically 8th and they haven't taught us much about biology...)
