I was in the capital of the Orkney Islands one 17 May and everybody was speaking Norwegian-- there were brass bands, a speech by the Norwegian Consul General, singing, flags, lots of food and drink. It was seriously strange because the Orkney Islands have been British for 3 centuries now.
