This is so true... how I loved digging holes and building dams on the beaches of Netherland when I was young. Since Germans are considered travel enthusiasts, I had the chance to dig holes in many european beaches. I liked Netherlands the best (compared to France or Spain) because the waves were not so strong, so sand structures lasted longer when the tide rose. Also the beaches are very flat, so a sand caste stayed "alive" for a long time - even if the tide pushed the water already 50 m further.
As for the swedish moose signs... I have a room which is completely decorated with (German) traffic signs. I wanted to get a moose sign when I visited Sweden a month ago but It looks like they are mounted on the poles realy good (I just looked, I did not take one *g*). In souvenier shops they were about 1000 SEK or 100 € which was a little bit too expensive... so no mooseys for me yet
