When you get down to the basics, Finland was a signature member of the Axis Alliance. Finnish soldiers were involved in the blockade around Leningrad that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians from starvation in the world's largest siege. But Finland emerged as the only part of the former Russian Empire that did not get reabsorbed into Stalin's grasp. Was it worth it? Perhaps. But the fact remains that Finland was not guilt-free in WWII.

Finland did do one decent thing: they refused to hand over the Jews living in their country to the Nazis.
