But let's check where those people come from: Following the Chrisitian genocides by the ottomans, a whole lot came to settle in Syria (away from modern day Turkey). Almost a 100% increase of the total population in 10 years (1910s to 1920s).
Birth rates in syria was on decline ever since the 90s. In 2009 there were a 3.1 children per mother.
Maybe you should check some figures before you go bark maths...
