In the case of Fugu, its actually quite easy to prepare the fish so that it's not dangerous, just make sure you don't hit bits with the knife. Which anyone who's ever cleaned out a chicken should know.. *DON'T* nick the gall bladder... ( won't kill you, but the taste.... ugh..) .
The "art" of Fugu is making it *just poisonous enough* that you feel it tingling on your tongue, without any further harm. Not my thing, but ymmv if youre going for a dare, and can afford it.
