Too many Americans are jerks. That's why I try not to be one. I speak three languages, and small amounts of 10 more, as I wanted my patients to hear a bit of their native language to put them at ease. Cardiac units are scary places.

Though I haven't left the hemisphere, I've been to 15 countries and territories, not counting US possessions. Too many Americans don't leave the state in which they were born and once the schools dropped the requirement to take a few years of another language, they don't try to learn any other language, much less do a decent job of learning their own. Travel broadens ones mindset. Now you start to see how some Americans get to be the way they are.

That and their love affair with guns. {shudder}

America is huge. We have over 350 million people and a lot of land mass. We have almost all of the climates on the Earth. There are a lot of subcultures plus cultures brought from other countries. A lot of immigrants choose to come here. Looked at this way, it's hard to pigeonhole us.
