@poodle_doodle Well the UN usually sits on it's ass and does nothing ... ahem ... "takes a stance of non-involvement" so if the US doesn't step in then nobody else will.
One particularly disgusting instance of UN cowardice was the Srebrenica Massacre during the Bosnian Genocide. UN Peacekeepers (mostly from The Netherlands) were tasked with defending Srebrenica because it was designated as a safe zone. But when the Serbian Death-Squads arrived, the Peacekeepers abandoned their posts and left the Bosnians to their fates. Over 8000 men, women, and children were murdered in cold blood because of the cravenness of the UN Peacekeepers.
Of course the US can be cowards too; during the Rwandan Genocide our president called it "genocide like activities" so that we wouldn't have to send soldiers to end the bloodshed.
