That happened here as well XD. Back then during the period of the Banten Sultanate, the English were famous among the locals because they behaved and were very nice. So local merchants liked to gave them discounts and goods and were very cooperative with them.

The Dutch however were not so well liked because they were rude, demanding and pushy. And that was why they often pretended to be English XD.
