@Attacker732 Sad and short-sighted. In Classroom in Driver's Ed, we were told all of these things though not all of them were in the material provided by the County of Milwaukee (early 1980s). Our teacher wanted us to survive. Thanks to him, in MN one night I had a bad spinout on a hill en route to work. Stayed on the road, got myself squared away, and decided that I was taking a different street to work.

They used to tell everyone on the news every year when conditions were getting bad or winter was approaching what things should be in your vehicle, like a blanket, flashlights, candies & long-lasting munchies, cat litter for traction, and suchlike.

In CA, we have the rainy season now. Everyone forgets how to drive on slick roads, especially when bringing up oils from the roads at the beginning of rainy season. I mean, come on! It happens every year! Do your brains do a cold reboot?!? Maybe because I drove in snow & ice & taught my Californian hubby how to do the same in NJ that I'm immune.
