Not so much we talk Danish, it's that we write danish. The plague killed everyone who could read and write (Ie: Monks) and so some guy from around the Oslo area decided to 'Norwegianify' Danish and take the letters. Mostly stuck around the higher class, as in eastern and parts of southern Norway. North and West stuck to their older Norwegian dialects more closely. Then some guy decided to bring back the old Norwegian, and took the dialects pretty much from only mid-western Norway (I believe) and that's now what's called 'new Norwegian'. Annoying, I know.
But to say we speak Danish isn't quite right, but we basically write the same.
Though in the end, we are incredibly close linguistically. Norwegians seem to have the longest straw here, as we seem to understand both Swedes and Danes a lot better than they understand us or each other.
