@amypisces There are two reasons for this. 1. The school system mostly teaches about American history, and the government with world history coming much later. 2. We have 50 states most the size of European countries; that are more heavily populated than Canada, and have different cultures (even in the Midwest you can tell Illinois from Missouri, and they are right next to each other.) So we focus more on other states than we do countries.
