There are more museums in the U.S. than there are Starbucks 8 11, 11:58pm

@sagas Yes, this. Probably counting local museums as well as large national ones. I grew up in a smallish town in New York, close to the border with Connecticut. There is a LOT of local history there ranging from the Pre-colonist Natives to modern stuff. In my town's downtown there is the Southeast Museum that displays artifacts and doodads from colonial life in the town of Southeast, letters from revolutionary war era soldiers as well as later WWII soldiers who hailed from our area. There is a veteran's memorial on an overlook not far from my house that used to be a lookout point for Revolutionary forces. It gave them the perfect view of British troop encampments so they could tell if the British were going to march toward Danbury or Peekskill and then send word to Washington. (It is also an absolutely beautiful spot in the Autumn). We have Sybil Luddington (our more successful Paul Revere) who save Danbury from burning down by riding 40 miles in the dark and the rain at 16 years old to wake her Father's soldiers. There is SO much history where I'm from and I love it. I know it doesn't go back as far as other parts of the world (as far as it being recorded and saved), and I do envy that about Europe and Asia, BUT it is still pretty special to me. :)
