Actually people have cared (Kennedy shot dead; Clinton impeached... or attempted); what's telling is how much people don't care about the current president's dalliances (if it matters to anyone, it happened before the presidency; the only criminally-interested controversy would be if he had paid her off with campaign funds, which is still unclear), instead of the current president's crime syndicate side dealings with Russian billionaires and burocrats. That's not something you want between leaders of the two countries holding the most nuclear weapons.
