@yoisi First off, Islam is a religion. Not a culture. And sure, we can start arguing about what came first - religion or culture - but that seems like a stupid argument to start. It's gonna be a 'hen or egg'-argument.

It is NOT an invasion. Go ask the native people of your own country what true invasion is ;) You act as if Muslims are somehow a majority in Denmark and that's just not the case. They're minority and religion is not a dominating aspect of Danish culture, so Islam will never become some sort of ruling religion here (Especially since our constitution states that Denmark is a Christian country - which is stupid in itself, but still ...). We're a country filled with a majority of atheists and culture-Christians - people who believe in a God but doesn't really care much about religion over all.

And the thing is: The two us AGREE. I think the burqa is an idiotic thing, as well, but as I keep stating it is stupid to punish the VICTIMS. Punishing the women who wear the burqa will only make it easier for the men to control them. It'll make it easier to just keep the women at home with the excuse that they can't go outside without the burqa.
And it's insulting to the women who decided for themselves to wear the burqa - whether it's an oppressing piece of fabric or not. THEY made a choice and now they're being told that they 'dress wrong', which is what women have been told for centuries. 'You have a short skirt, so you are a whore', 'Why are you wearing so much clothes, show of your legs and boobs, girlie!'.
When we just focus on the burqa we're not really helping these women. It becomes an argument about the right to wear what you want to want. The discussion shouldn't be about the burqa because the burqa is simply a small representation of the the actual issue and that issue is NOT being addressed by this new law. The new ban will change nothing for these women, other than making them feel like outcasts because of their beliefs.
