Not actually true unless your talking about any of the epidemics, in the case of epidemics there was hasty burials and there were alot in the cut, but the cut was dug to deeper than 6 feet and 6 feet of earth was allways placed on each "pit", the bodies were allways placed in the cut, not tossed in and aligned correctly, once the pit was covered a prayer was said, it was the only time paupers got any respect, every body got a christian burial, there was alot of paranoia about the dead about then.
