I mean, I'm from Melbourne (pronounced "MELL-burn") and we've always just called Queensland our Texas (it even comes with it's own Brisvegas! (not that I've ever actually been there myself though...)). I think we see ourselves as more akin to, like, New York or something?
But... could that all be a lie to delude ourselves? Are we trying to draw distinctions that don't really exist? Are we all, fundamentally, just British Texans at heart?
