I traveled to Brisbane from California for the '88 World's Fair. I was deeply disappointed, because I went all the way to a most exotic country on the whole other side of the world, and it looked exactly the same as Sacramento. Not even a "wildlife" park with wombats and kangaroos could dispel the feeling. (Although I queued up to have my photo taken with a koala, as you do, and learnt that koalas are smelly.) (And the beer was better.)
