Anyone wondering why much of America leaves shoes ON in the house has never stepped on a sandspur. (native to much of the American south) Its a little seed with nasty hooked barbs that HURT when you step on them and are pretty bad to pull off as well. No matter how careful you are, they always cling to clothes and scatter on the floor. My sneakers would have so many sandspurs they looked like spiked shoes! Of course, I didn't mind because every one in my sneaker wasn't in my foot!
