@uruvon I have not read anything of these accounts after Ibn Fadlan and Ibrahim al-Tartusi. When were those accounts written and about what places? Could be difference due to regions and periods.
Ever heard of Snorri Sturluson (b.1178 or 1179 d.(killed) 1241)? He was a farmer in Iceland who wrote a lot (For some reason Norway keep writing that he was from Norway... but he was born, lived and died in Iceland) i.e. Snorra-Edda was written by him.
Snorralaug is the natural(ish) pool at Snorra´s farm where Snorri bathed every Saturday. The Icelandic name for Saturday is Laugardagur and means... wait for it.... Bathingday!
