Korea was a bizarre case of Stalin suckering the US and China into a war in order to sell the Chinese more weapons... that the Russians would still control. There's a reason the war dragged on for a few years after a sane person would've ended it and more or less stopped almost as soon as Stalin bit the dust.
Vietnam was the US getting suckered into propping up the French Colonial Empire. I'll trust the French sooner than the British, but not much sooner.
