Russia focused on Christo-fascism and became an oil-country in a century doing away with oil (the Earth only has so much, and we've used almost all of it anyway). Russia can only offer farm-land (wheat, et cetera) and oil (to be replaced by green tech). They only have their selves to blame. Indeed, they were taken advantage of by a madman and are victims in a way, no different from US 2016 politics, but still, each has their blame. Russia is facing Ukraine and cannot win. I wonder what would happen if NATO did actually get involved instead of just whispering. Clueless.
If the Russians right now overthrew their government and asked the world for help to set themselves right, the world would be more than happy to help. Their only way out, really.
As for companies and Russia...how many companies do you think are going to open up in Russia now that they've illegally (internationally) seized assets? Russia is screwed for investments. Putin has simply tried to seize what he can because Russia cannot create on their own (unless it is tied to oil). It won't do any good. They were behind the times before investments and with no new investment they will fall behind and stay behind. (Again.) Most likely they'll try to work with China, and China has a way of controlling their partners. Middle-east? Their ability to support Russia (specifically calling out Iran here) is being challenged (specifically 'Women Life Freedom', right now). Looks very bad for Russia's “support” systems.
Russia wants to fuss about Finland and Sweden joining NATO... Finland kicked Russia's butt in the olden days. It's buried 2 meters underground there. 0 for 1, Russia loses. Russia can't take Ukraine, 0 for 2, Russia loses. Given the myth revealed of Russia's might, Russia won't be taking anyone out. The world is seeing to that in whispers... How it must sound to roar.
