The thistle is the emblem of Scotland as a barefoot viking raider cried out in pain as he stood on one, alerting the Scottish army encampment that the Norse army were sneaking up on.
Vikings and stealth... We don't exactly look like ninjas. Unless those ninjas suddenly are tall and blonde. And well, I'm not saying that pale-skinned Scandinavian directly glows in the dark, but...
@QaRajhCreations Aren't Fins Vikings too though? And they are masters of stealth. I believe I once read or heard somewhere about a military practice exercise where the Finnish army would hide out in the woods for several days while the Swedish army would try to find them. They couldn't find as much as a trace of where the Fins would be. Meanwhile the Fins had been in the Swedes' tents, taken weaponry and underwear, hung the underwear in flagpoles at the Swedish base, all unnoticed. Not sure how much of it is true, but I'm pretty sure they at least are good at stealth.
@Zeust Vikings were Scandinavian, while Finland had historical communications with Sweden. Finland is in the Nordic region, but Vikings weren't from there.
@EricTheRedAndWhite @AussiePengwin Thanks! I thought Vikings were Nordic but not necessarily Scandinavian. I believe I heard somewhere that at least Iceland actually had Vikings too, but maybe that's because they've been under Scandinavian rule.
Yeah, I think they were guarding something important in a tower - I really should know more about my *cough* own country. Honestly, most of my knowledge is on the Nordics :P

Iceland is not Scandinavian in the modern geopolitical sense, but they definitely are Scandinavian culturally and linguistically, in which senses Scandinavian and Nordic pretty much mean the same thing. And the Icelandic Vikings were originally settlers from Norway. ;)

The word Viking usually refer to Norsemen, the Old Norse-speaking Germanic tribes of Scandinavia. So in that sense of the word, Finns weren't Vikings.
That's wonderful. I know the general rule is to re-use existing art from the comics, but this would be hilarious incident to see an image of. Maybe this story even warrants it's own 1-panel comic.
