I Miss Those Days..

When America was neutral... oh those days.. where did they go?

Fun fact during the start of WW2 America was a popular choice of being a protecting power and was a really popular choice alongside Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland.
You can learn more about "Protecting powers" here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protecting_power

I used Sister America here since I thought she'd fit that role more, Brother America is just very quick to pick sides unlike her. And Sweden since he's known America as a kid and stuff. But those are just my HC's.

yay you drew teenage Sister America with a bobcut

The truth is I'm glad we joined WWII and help defeat the Axis

but then we kind of got stuck as a superpower and couldn't go back

it's really one of those damn if you do and damn if you don't

Humon even made a joke about that too Stop Your Meddling

Sweden did have a colony in colonial America and was the first nation that was neutral to recognize America as an independent nation and allied with us during the First Barbary War for the first year till they bailed and deiced just to pay the pirates but the US kept on fighting (and we won, and we won the sequel yay)

I headcanon Sister America despised Nazi Germany and was even afraid of him but wanted to stay neutral because even though she knew he was evil, she didn't know how evil and didn't want any more of her people to die and just wanted to use lend leases to help the UK and USSR
