SmilingNid, sadly WBC is far, far from being unique in saying this kind of thing. Even today, there is a significant minority of the US population that thinks and/or speaks exactly like this. WBC is the most over the top in the way they go about getting the message across, and most decry their tactics, but the message resonates with perhaps a third of the country. In some states, there are still a majority of people who do. It's changing faster than I ever thought possible (I'm very glad to be wrong about this), but it will be a long time before the US can't legitimately be stereotyped like this comic does. There's still too much truth to the generalization...
