Not to mention, the US is the "melting pot" of the world. I would be curious to know if there is a single nation that is quite as blended as us. Cultures clash... BUT, when you're dealing with a handful of people, tolerance comes easier... when the various cultures are in large enough groups to pit against each other for political reasons there's already a LOT of natural tension and the media and people in power just fan the flames for votes and ratings.
In short: It isn't like Americans are just dicks. I would argue that many nations would have issues if they dealt with the cultural blending we have. (And look how well things are going with refugees right now.... yeah.... just... yeah.)
