Man that's tragically ironic. The stronger a new land identity there is, the better for immigrants. Not when its exclusionary obviously (which is where actual fascism comes in!), but when it simple lets people understand and know the place they now live.
This is tricky I guess in most European countries (including Sweden) because your flags double as ethnic flags really. Not just national. But still, even that is better than nothing at all. Which I swear is one of the reasons I think that Belgium's immigrant situation is so bad. No identity at all there, two clashing ones.
If an immigrant doesn't know what sort of place they live in, and their children don't either. How can they integrate into it?
