@Galison The U.S. weapons have generally lower yields than Russian weapons; only one (B83) has a yield higher than 1/2 megaton and most are under 400 kilotons. there might be a few dozen B53s laying around that are much more powerful but they are long since out of the active arsenal and in reserve storage.

Chinese and Russian weapons are generally high-yield because their delivery systems are less accurate. In the case of China they also don't have MIRVs so they can fit one really big warhead on a missile too.
