Well, I am pretty young (15) but I was taught our alphabet with J-K-X-Y-W.
We don't have Js, naturally (they were used in literature in the twentieth century to replace the strong Is) and same for the Ks, the Xs, the Ys and the Ws.
We had little of these letters in Latin (ex: Karthago), but now we only use them for foreign word or adapted ones (ex: xilofono).
About the "u" question, we haven't had it for a very long time.
The original Latin placed "v" and "u" under the same "v" letter (ex: PVELLA or BELLVM).
