Funny thing about tranquilizers is they need to be specifically made for their target. Too little dose, and it either has no effect or takes much longer to activate (and if you shoot and hit them multiple times, you might OD them), and too much, you might accidentally kill the target. Even among humans, a different dosage would be required for a 120 lb person vs a 250 lb person.
