As far as I'm aware, the Burger is an American invention. There are conflicting claims about who invented it and where/when, but they all agree it was roughly 1880-1900 somewhere in the US. McDonalds is definitely an American invention, for better or for worse.
Deep frying food absolutely is NOT an american-only thing. Though to be honest at this point I only know as much as google could tell you. Fried potatoes go all the way back to 1600s Belgium according to a cursory google search.
