I have looked over some of the coments in here and sorry to say guys but some of you don't treat Humon very nicely. First people asked for Brexit comics and when they got that they complained about not understanding the leave side. Then she starts drawing in more political up to date things and peopel gets angry over that and ask for more funny stuff. Then she draws in more of that and people complain about lack of research on this. People please remember that we only have this if she wants to do so. To much complaning and she might stop all together. I don't say never ever complain just remeber also to be thankfully she is there to lighten up our day.
@Horsi Yes! Finally someone says it. I feel that some people on here forget that the person behind this comic is just that: a person. A human being, with a mind just as real as ours.
@Edelstein9 Agreed. I am not afraid to call it out as long as I am just doing it in a careful manner. As long as I explain it and not just call people down on it most is often willing to accept the criticism.
@Horsi
This was very valuable and reassuring to see.
There are some who choose to go down the path of calling others "fascists" or "racists" or whatever just because others give back a criticism.
To see others who disagree, but are willing to go down the civilized route of behaving civil, is a beautiful sight.
I disagree with some of what you have said, but I love how you presented it. Well done good mam
@Jonas_Hrafnagil When I got entertainment I am out on youtube so I have seen hatefull coments enough to last a lifetime. As a person I follow on youtube once said "You now what is easy? Being hateful and angry, it is so easy that is lazyness. You know what is dificult? Being nice. It is so hard to be nice some people".
Feel free to disagree all I wanted was to remind people to also remind Humon how much we love the comics becuase if we keeep this up we might end with her pulling out. I wish you good day to you too.
@HijoLatino As I say don't ever complain or come with wishes. I just try to remind people to be carefull because I want to see more comics but if it turns to poisenos for Humon she might stop.
@Horsi yw ^-^and i wouldn't be to surprised, since (hopefully) this is a more 'pure' website, as in there are less kids leaving hate comments for no reason & making big deals outta everything. Instead this website has more, mature people, who often leave more constructive criticism than meaningless hate, and i'm sure they're glad someone finally called 'em out. (i know this probably sounds kinda weird but i'm tired so )
@Horsi same. its a shame that slowly, more kids make their way into websites like this. overreacting to everything, using stupid, shitty, hate comments for no reason, and then there's the downright stupid comments like: EuHG YOu ShOUld QuIT & the classic go KYS (kill your self) Thankfully i haven't seen THAT one yet, but i'm sure someones gonna say it, and mean it, eventually. so i'm sure people liked this so much because you, & a few others im sure, are finally standing up for her against the little kids who probably think the world revolves around 'em or something. but hey, just a theory ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Horsi I can't stress enough of how happy I am to see this comment. I may be a bit late but I also noticed "a lot" of negative feedback here after the whole brexit event and trump becoming the president about a year ago, etc. I now solely made this account just to show my appreciation of Humon's work here by agreeing with you on this statement. Hell I even made sure to buy the Best of 2016 back when it became available, despite the fact that it was more than a whole month late to arrive, but I was completely fine with that.
I have been too worried about what possible influence that all of these negative comments could have brought Humon, we should all be so lucky to have her, don't forget that.
Their president said that he didn't like pineapple on pizza and then joked that he would ban it if he could - while visiting a school, talking to the students.
It was obviously a joke but local and then world media picked it up as a "funny story".
Most reported it like the joke it was, but some tried to milk the story even more and made it sound like he actually meant it.
Which in turn prompted him to issue a statement where he said that no, he was of course only joking and that he in fact was glad that he as president of Iceland didn't have that kind of power.
So no - that part isn't true at all.
EDIT: One incredibly funny side-effect of me correcting racists and far-right supporters on this site is that some of them feel the compulsive need to down-vote EVERYTHING I write.
Like this little comment here on the legality of pizza-topping in Iceland that's now gotten multiple down-votes in just 40 minutes. :-D
@Nisse_Hult as i saw the down votes, i thought to myself: "wow. what type of shit did he put?" but then as i read it, i got more and more confused on why there were down votes in the first place, till the end, and i must say i am rather shocked, and kinda sad and confused, about how the people (who keep down voting you) who are acting/ acted like this. i hope they stop soon if they didn't all ready, especially since your comments don't deserve 'em. have a nice day/night ^-^
Yes, it's unfortunately a sad fact that some people online spout a lot of racist, far-right bigotry these days.
And when I see people doing it on this site, I've often corrected them.
Which they don't like, so now some people are reflexively down-voting anything they see me write.
Which I usually don't notice that much.
I just commented on it one time here, because I got like 4 down-votes in 40 minutes for a comment explaining a comment about pizza topping the president of Iceland made.
It was just so silly that several different people wanted to express their general dislike for me by down-voting such an innocuous comment. :-D
I haven't been back here in a long time, but now when you wrote me I looked up the comment and boy, those votes have been stacking up! :-O
But it's nice to see that more people has actually up-voted me. :-)
@Nisse_Hult thx! ^-^ its a shame that even now, those little kids are slowly creeping into this website, and start leaving those shitty useless, and downright mean, comments, slowly destroying the 'innocence' on the website, meaning, more and more people are leaving more and more of those stupid comments. And i must say, i feel quite sad about it since not only is this a website for more, mature, people, but that when i first found this place, it was so pure. barley any if any hate comments, more arguments being settled reasonably than just calling the other person names, and shit, and just downright nice comments. Its also sad to see that the people who got easily triggered by you now just down-vote your comments before reading what they say. i could also say the same about roleplaying (ive been rping for so long, and it makes me feel sad by how many ppl are breaking rules and wut not in this one game. i could go on and on, but i dont want you to have to read what seems like 2 chapters of a dictionary so ) my thought is that the people, who up-voted you, were also tired of this stupidity and wanted to sort spread the message or something. (srry if this sounds kinda weird, as i just got back from my vacation today x>) i hope the people will soon learn that the stuff they do (especially the down votes) are useless and harmless, besides the bullying and wut not, since sadly more often then not, some ppl start believing those hurtful lies, & eventually kill themselves....... but hopefully they'll soon stop, and learn that what they are doing is hurting others (even if they were standing up for someone since calling the bully stupid, etc, does nothing but mkae stuff wors) & stop. I hope you have a nice day, and rest of the year! ^-^
@Nisse_Hult I am equally confused, because you represent a good chunk of people of SATW, who are afraid of speaking up. And you didn't even have malicious intent with this comment. I am perplexed.
@Hezaa I would of given you an over sized base with tomato sauce (ketchup is too expensive here) a pretend gun on it, with a mountain of chips on the side;) does America have a pizza called "American pizza"?
wait
WAIT.
i just realized something
hezaa's american pizza is just a misspelling of pepperoni, because pepperoni itself is a misspelling of peperoni(bell pepper in italian)
i'm laughin my off so much right now.
in italy to stay on topic, an american pizza in italy would be mozzarella, potatoes(french fries) and wurstel/hot dogs.
@Canoe WAIT WAIT, SO BURGER KING IS CANADIAN? So when Tony Stark said he wants an American cheese burger and went to Burger King in Iron Man 1, he was eating a Canadian cheeseburger??
McDonalds is more American because of the method of production (it's basically a food factory). You can't really call it american cuisine because its like... 3 dishes. Fried potatoes, meat between special bread slices, and hot dogs.
All of the food in America is either dishes taken directly from other cultures, or dishes proudly derived from other cultures. American Barbecue, for example, has its roots in French cooking, among other things. In Chicago, half the restaurants near my house are explicitly another culture's food, or a bar. Japanese, german, italian, ethiopian, indian, chinese, etc. Then the occasional place, that doesn't define itself explicitly by one culture, mixes styles from a few cultures, or puts its own twist on other cultures' foods.
@quazimojojojo Iam aware that like Australia, America has no "cuisine" of its own... but America did come up with MacDonalds did they not? Australia has not even got its own food chain. Could/are burgers an American dish? Did America invent the burger, or the chip, or deep frying food?
As far as I'm aware, the Burger is an American invention. There are conflicting claims about who invented it and where/when, but they all agree it was roughly 1880-1900 somewhere in the US. McDonalds is definitely an American invention, for better or for worse.
Deep frying food absolutely is NOT an american-only thing. Though to be honest at this point I only know as much as google could tell you. Fried potatoes go all the way back to 1600s Belgium according to a cursory google search.
@CorruptUser
America does have its own ways of doing things, though. I would consider barbecue, burritos, and breakfast cereal all very "American." Also, American cheese.
@Namitsu America doesn't have "American food" in terms of pizza the 3 big types I know of are New York style which is about as thin as normal pizzas but are so greasy I often see people hold their pizza so that the grease drips off, Chicago which is a deep dish pizza that is practically an actual pie, then there is commercial pizza which you can get all over the world at places like dominos or pizza hut. But generally Americans do think the same as the rest of the world when we here the phrase "American food": burgers, hot dogs, bbq, fries, and pizza.
I work at a pizza place that serves mostly the New York style as the owner came from Brooklyn and spent some time in Italy and Sicily so we have a Sicilian style pizza which is deep dish with some spices on the crust. We also have some preset pizzas (think meatlovers pizza) that are inspired from different places in Italy such as Naples, Milan, and Tuscany. The pizzas that we produce there fulfill the New York style of being grease heavy but I also like to get lots of stuff on mine such as Pepperonis, Onions, Jalapenos, Salami, and Ham.
By the way your nation is listed as Red Cross, was this a mistake like the Americans choosing Liberia or Malaysia?
@Carolus_Rex lol no mistake. Just not sure I like my flag that much, the Red Cross flag, I dunno I like it, and I do come with bandaids and antibiotics so.... do you make "huge" pizzas? I only like cheese, oregano, tomato paste, garlic and anchovies on a pizza and only on a thin base, I pick all the other bits off
@Namitsu If by huge you mean diameter we make a 28 inch pizza, if you mean by toppings we can add all of those easily. The way we do pizza orders is pretty simple you can choose either a Sicilian pizza or a New York style. Sicilian is just in one size and is a square with as many toppings as you like. If New York style you have 4 sizes, 10", 14", 16", and 28". For what goes on the different sizes we have presets like Meatlovers and such which get weirder and weirder down to a bbq sauce, sirloin steak, and cheddar cheese. Then you can have for sauces: Alfredo, Ricotta, Pizza, Marinara, barbeque, or buffalo, default is pizza sauce. Then we have multiple different cheeses but unless specified we use mozzerella. Then you can have any toppings you want on top with normal stuff being Pepperoni, Sausage, Onions, Mushrooms, Bell Peppers and bacon but we also can use weird stuff like artichoke, broccoli, and chicken.
Also on terms of flags I think my favorite has to be the state flag of Austria, the Eagle looks pretty bad ass with the broken chains but it isn't used on here, and even if it was it would be to small to tell.
@Namitsu They are made fresh, they aren't thrown up into the air usually as we are usually to busy to make a pizza twice if it falls. We use the side of a polished stone table to stretch the dough as it is much safer and easier.
Lol Humon really should do some research. Pineapple was never made illegal in Iceland. The president said that he dislikes pineapple on pizza so he jokingly remarked that he would ban it if he had the power to do so.
@ValurJarl
Maybe you aren't up to date and it has since been outlawed? Better don't get caught with one. They might sentence you to living on a remote lonely island, or something.
@Myrica No, it is not illegal in Iceland, we can even have bananas on our (homemade) pizzas if anybody wants to... (not sure if the Pizza-places offer bananas as "put-on choose". Many have bananas on bread. (put-on is me trying to translate the icelandic word "Álegg" - that is what we call anything that is put on top of a bread or pizza...) Valurjarl is icelandic too, so no, neither one of us is "not up to date" There has never been any law in Iceland that forbids you to put anything (i.e. pineapple, apple, sausage, egg...) on top of a pizza or for that matter bread.
@bubba
Sorry, maybe I should have added a ./snark tag or something.
On the other hand - are you *really* sure you can't have overlooked a change in the law? Maybe they passed that law outlawing banana pizza very secretly, just so that they could go after opposition pizzerias in the near future?
;-)
@ValurJarl
"Edit: Apparently pineapple pizza isn't illegal, they've just talked about making it illegal. My point about Swedish food still stands though."
I'd love to see Guðni see how far he can take it, since the international media clearly will believe whatever ridiculous joke he says and report it widely as fact, since "Iceland So Quirky!" seems good for headlines. May I suggest next "Iceland bans ugly children" or perhaps "Iceland pledges one reindeer per household by 2025"?
@Karen #9623601 I think I read on this very site that the Icelandic PM is glad he can't ban pizza toppings, so I got confused when I saw this comic, thinking did they ban it after all? Thanks for reinforcing my belief that you didn't
Also, a cuteness scale for immigrants - or perhaps even tourists - would make a semi-believable headline. Keeping ugly immigrants/tourists out is actually physically possible, unlike ugly children
I now kinda want to see this headline on an otherwise reputable source just to watch people flip their shits at a country that's actually really progressive
But Hawaiian Pizza is amazing D: Ham, pinapple and bacon bits is the bomb!! Iceland, have a dessert pizza? -points to a Blueberry and cream cheese pizza, a chocolate sauce pizza with M&M's, chocolate chits, marshmallows and powdered sugar and a cherry and cream cheese pizza-
@RavenABlack Dominos here has the M&M's pizza as well, with chocolate paste instead of cheese and mashed tomato. I think it's more like a pancake than a pizza, but it's pretty edible
