@Aurinkolasit You are greatly exaggerating. While the very short civil war divided the country, the division wasn't that much on a global scale. There was no lingering armed insurgency, no gross terrorism, like more affected countries have suffered. Also, Finland wasn't as undeveloped or poor as some might have you think. Industrialisation happened here the same as in the rest of Europe following the footsteps of the primary countries like the UK. The 19th century was a period of great enlightement and development in Finland due to the unprecedented independence in the form of autonomy. When the Russian oppression started, nationalism gave birth to great works of art. Business also flourished like never before.

In some things Finland was the most developed in Europe, like the women's suffrage.
