Strange understanding of the history, coming from a Finn. I could see some Russian's wanting to paint your joint history like this - but why would any Finn want to?

Because much of this simply isn't true.

Russia had no intention to "raise" Finland "in to a nation" - they actively tried to suppress your independence up until the revolution.
Then Lenin recognized Finland's independence because he had a civil war on his hands in Russia and didn't have the power to prevent you breaking free anyway.
But Stalin tried to snuff out your independence again, like he did with the Baltic states.
After the war the Russian's forbade you to receive any funding from the US Marshall plan that rebuilt the rest of Europe, as they wanted to see you remain weak and separated from the western block.

And the "profitable" trade with Russia was in many cases forced on you. Russia demanded that Finland didn't join NATO and they demanded you trade with them to show you're independence from the other western nations.
You didn't buy your first nuclear reactor from the Soviets because they where the best technology out there, but to show you where Russia's (forced) "friend" for instance.

I'm not saying all of what you wrote is wrong, mind you. But you're giving a very rosy picture of what relations between Finland and Russia has actually been like the last two centuries.

Is this really what you're being taught in Finnish schools, or have you gotten this from some other, very pro-Russian source?
